I Can Sign offers a simple and engaging way to teach parent and baby how to sign key words. This is a great way to open the lines of communication, even before baby learns to speak!
I recently had the opportunity to watch BabyFirst TV’s I Can Sign DVD. I Can Sign teaches how to sign baby’s first words. The DVD is divided into four sections. The first section is about food which teaches how to sign eat, banana, apple, cookie, drink, water, bottle, and milk. The family section teaches mother, father, baby, kiss, and sleep. The play section teaches play, ball, book, and car. The last section is about body which teaches ear, feet, hands, eye, and nose. The DVD is great at teaching sign language. The instructor says the word and demonstrates how to sign the word. Then it also shows children doing what the word is with an animated character in the corner signing the word. The sign is repeated many times to make sure you know how to sign it. The DVD also has an option for parenting subtitles. The subtitles give tips and facts about sign language. The DVD also has a Spanish option. The word is spoken in Spanish so you can also teach your child the words in Spanish. The DVD also can a nice bonus feature. If you put the DVD in your computer, you can print out free coloring pages. I really enjoyed the DVD. I actually remembered all the signs for each word after I watched it. I am excited for my baby to learn sign language and receive all the great benefits. BabyFirst TV’s I Can Sign is a great teaching tool to learn sign language.
